You receive a notification from your bank after a transfer, and the description shows “Logitel” followed by a reference. This term refers to the internal processing channel used by some French banks to execute a European SEPA transfer from their online space. The mechanism remains that of a classic euro transfer, but the technical path taken by the order deserves some clarification.

Logitel description on a bank statement: what the term covers

Logitel corresponds to the name of a remote banking system. When you initiate a transfer from your client space or mobile application, the order passes through this platform before being injected into the SEPA network. The account statement then records “Logitel transfer” as the origin of the operation.

This description appears for both one-time transfers and scheduled standing orders. It does not change the amount, the timeframe, or the fees. It is simply a technical label, comparable to the mention “online transfer” that other institutions use.

To understand in detail what a European transfer issued via Logitel is, one must go back to the SEPA protocol itself, which standardizes euro transfers between participating countries.

SEPA transfer: the regulatory foundation of euro transfers

A European SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) transfer allows euros to be sent from one account to another within the SEPA zone. This zone includes the countries of the European Union as well as a few associated states. The transfer relies on a unique identifier: the beneficiary’s IBAN, accompanied by the BIC code of their bank.

The operation works the same whether it is domestic or cross-border. A transfer to an account in Germany follows the same rules as a transfer between two French accounts. The IBAN is sufficient to trigger the transfer, regardless of the destination country within the zone.

Execution time and instant transfer

A standard SEPA transfer is credited within one business day. The instant transfer, on the other hand, arrives within seconds. Regulation (EU) 2024/886 now imposes specific deadlines on payment service providers in the euro area regarding this matter.

  • The obligation to receive instant euro transfers applies from January 9, 2025, for providers located in euro area countries.
  • The obligation to issue instant transfers is set for October 9, 2025.
  • The fees for an instant transfer can no longer exceed those of a standard SEPA transfer under comparable circumstances, according to this same regulation.

This framework changes the game for users of Logitel and other online banking platforms: instant transfer becomes a right, not a premium option.

Verification of the beneficiary before a transfer via Logitel

Have you ever entered an IBAN wondering if you had swapped two digits? The verification of the beneficiary, or Verification of Payee (VOP), addresses this risk. This system compares the entered IBAN with the name of the recipient account holder before executing the transfer.

Since October 9, 2025, this verification is mandatory for all standard and instant SEPA transfers within the European Union. It also applies to operations conducted via Logitel.

Three possible outcomes during the check

At the moment of validating your order, the system displays real-time feedback:

  • Match confirmed: the name and IBAN match. The transfer can be executed normally.
  • Partial match: a minor difference is detected (typo, abbreviation). A warning prompts you to verify the information before confirming.
  • No match: the name does not match the IBAN at all. The transfer is not blocked, but an explicit alert message is displayed for you to decide.

This mechanism reduces the risk of input errors and complicates attempts at fraud through IBAN substitution, a common scenario in scams involving fake bank advisors.

Issuing a European transfer from Logitel: the concrete steps

The process varies slightly depending on the institution, but the logic remains the same across all Logitel interfaces. You select the account to debit, then the registered beneficiary or a new IBAN.

Adding a new beneficiary requires enhanced validation, usually via a code received by SMS or a confirmation on the mobile app. This security delay can range from a few minutes to several hours depending on the bank.

Once the beneficiary is validated, you enter the amount, the desired execution date, and any possible reason. The verification of the beneficiary (VOP) is executed automatically before the final confirmation. You confirm the order with your personal code or strong authentication device.

One-time or permanent transfer

Logitel allows you to schedule a recurring transfer on a fixed date, for example for rent or monthly savings. The description on the statement will remain “Logitel transfer” at each due date. Modifying or deleting a permanent transfer can be done from the same menu, without delay or additional fees in most cases.

For a one-time transfer to a country in the SEPA zone, the processing is identical to a domestic transfer. No specific steps are required to send euros to Belgium, Italy, or Portugal from Logitel.

The European transfer via Logitel remains a classic SEPA transfer, dressed in an internal label specific to the banking platform. With the obligation to offer instant transfers at the same rate as standard transfers and the generalization of beneficiary verification, the European regulatory framework has significantly enhanced the speed and security of these operations since 2025.
